Awkwafina
Awkwafina was an American actress and musician. She began by releasing humorous, cleverly written music that tackled questions of racial identity as well as sexual orientation. She then expanded her fans to Hollywood. Born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrant parents in Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came through the trumpet. Her classical, jazz and hip-hop studies began when she was in her teens. In her studies, she majored in journalism, and women's studies in college even taking classes in Mandarin in Beijing for a time. Her focus shifted to music only after she finished her studies. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success across the Internet eventually landing on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also included songs that were viral such as body positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$. The latter song was linked directly into another venture Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, which was published in the year 2015. Following a career that was successful as a musician and songwriter, she chose to assume the role of an actor. As well as early shows, such Girl Code and Tawk - she was in films Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land her first major role in a number of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
